The AI First Method in Three Steps

This is why the AI Native Startups are Hyper Productive

The “AI First Method” from my TED AI speech in SF

As the closing speaker at TED AI, I spoke about the new cultures that have emerged from AI —not just technology, my full slides here (video isn’t published yet)

Want to know why many of the top AI Startups are hyper productive with some of the highest Revenue Per Employee (RPE)? Check out the Lean AI-Native Leaderboard that’s tracking these startups, including their RPE numbers.

Let me introduced you to The AI First Method.
If you have a problem or a goal you follow this simple three step process:

  1. First, see if an AI tool already exists and adopt it,

  2. If it doesn’t exist, build it. Even if you’re not technical — vibe-code it,

  3. If, and only if, that doesn’t work — then hire a human.

Then repeat that process over and over and over till your organization becomes: Lean and Productive.

This is how the top AI startups are operating, and the approach is now spreading to traditional tech companies like Meta, which is conducting ongoing AI performance monitoring of employees to assess how effectively they use AI. This practice will likely extend over time to more traditional companies.
